1. Introduction
Better End is developed and operated by Luma Software ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Better End mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information: Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information you choose to share through those services. User-Generated Content: Information you voluntarily create within the App, including journal entries, reflections, end-of-life planning details, messages, and other personal content. Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, including features accessed, session duration, and anonymized crash reports. Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: • Provide and operate the App's features (AI companion, journals, planning tools, reflections, etc.) • Personalize your experience within the App • Process and manage your subscription • Send important account notifications and service updates • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the App • Respond to your support requests and feedback
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase employs industry-standard encryption for data both in transit (TLS) and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
5. Third-Party Services
We work with the following third-party services that may process your data: • Google Firebase — database storage, file storage, and authentication • RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — optional social authentication These services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including journals, reflections, planning content, and account information — is permanently deleted from our systems. To delete your account, go to Profile → Delete Account. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you — contact us at hello@betterend.io • Correct inaccurate information through your Profile settings • Delete your account and all associated data via Profile → Delete Account • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account If you are located in the European Union, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
8. Children's Privacy
Better End is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly. Please contact us at hello@betterend.io if you believe this has occurred.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
